Badrinath portals opened, President Pranab is the first visitor

New Delhi: After PM Narendra Modi's Kedarnath visit where he was the first one to perform Rudrabhishek when the portals were thrown open, it was President Pranab Mukherjee's turn to visit Badrinath as the doors to the sacred shrine was thrown open on Saturday. 

The President was the first visitor there.

The President left for Badrinath from a chopper from Dehradun around 7.30AM. He offered the prayers at the Lord's feet at around 8.45 AM.

Badrinath is an important pilgrim site of Uttarakhand, and one among the four important Dhams, revered by Hindus.hundreds of security personnel were deployed keeping the President's security in mind.
