Manchester, June 16: India dominated with both bat and ball to humiliate arch-rivals Pakistan by 89 runs in their World Cup round robin encounter here on Sunday.
This is the seventh consecutive World Cup victory over Pakistan by Team India.
The first victory came at the 1992 World Cup against eventual title winners Pakistan led by the legendary Imran Khan.
The next victories came at the 1996, 1999, 2003, 2011 and 2015 tournaments.
Star opener Rohit Sharma laid the foundation of Sunday's win with a dominant century.
The Mumbai batsman scored 140 and looked set for yet another ODI double century before gifting his wicket to pacer Hasan Ali with a needlessly extravagant shot.
Virat Kohli also batted well for his 77 as India posted a challenging 336/5.
World Cup debutant Vijay Shankar, Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav clinched two wickets each to destroy Pakistan's chances.
Rain stopped play for a brief period, forcing stoppage of play for a brief period.
The Pakistan innings was curtailed to 40 overs. The Duckworth-Lewis method revised Pakistan's target to 136 runs off 30 balls.
That was task too big for the men in green.
