New Delhi: Is the government planning to come out with Rs 5000 and Rs 1000 notes after printing Rs 2000 notes? The matter was discussed between government and RBi, and the secret is finally out.
The government is not planning to print Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 currency notes, Parliament was informed on Friday.
"The matter was examined in consultation with the Reserve Bank of India and it has not been found suitable to introduce Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 notes," Minister of State for Finance Arjun Ram Meghwal said in a written reply in Lok Sabha.
Asked if the government proposes to introduce Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 denomination notes with a view to reduce the expenditure on printing of notes in future, the Minister said the proposal has not been found suitable.
