Amritsar Train Accident: News24 exposes Railways, catches them lying-- there was no blind turn, see video

New Delhi, News24 Bureau, Oct 20: News24 has exposed a big lie of the Railways, which netas and officials could not deny. Jalandhar Track has no curve, as was being claimed by the officials. Railway netas and officials are caught unaware here. It was being claimed by them there was a curve in the Jalandhar track and the driver could not see things clearly because of this curve. But when News24 investigated, the truth was something else. All these were proved wrong during the investigations. The curve indeed is there but not on the Jalandhar track; the curve is in the Jammu track. 

CM Amarinder Singh, at last, visited the injured:

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has ordered an inquiry into the train accident and declared one-day mourning in the state on Saturday. He is personally supervising all relief operations and is meeting families of the victims. “The state will remain in mourning tomorrow in view of Amritsar train mishap. All offices and educational institutions will remain closed,” the chief minister tweeted.

One of the worst accidents in the history of Indian Railways

The incident took place around 6:45 pm at Dhobi Ghat near Jaura Phatak railway crossing.A crowd of around 300 people was watching Ravan effigies being burnt when the passenger train hit the people standing on the track, about 200 feet away, said senior police officer Lakhbir Singh.Railway Board chairman Ashwani Lohani rushed to the spot while the state government announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 5 lakh as compensation to the next of kin of those who were killed. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the other hand, announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the family of the dead and Rs 50,000 for the injured. He also directed officials to provide immediate assistance.
