New Delhi, News24 Bureau, May 20: The Exit Polls are out and the euphoria that was seen until yesterday in the Opposition camp, and especially in the Mahagathbandhan, is certainly dying down. Though all have said unanimously that they don't trust the Exit Polls and that they will wait for the final results to be announced on May 23, their strategies and plans are certainly changing.
Why else did then BSP Supremo Mayawati cancel her scheduled meeting with Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi today?
All eyes were on the one-hour meeting that took place today in Lucknow.
BSP supremo Mayawati and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav met in Lucknow on Monday after the exit polls. The projections showed that the NDA is all set to form the government again at the Centre.Yadav, who had formed a coalition with the BSP and the RLD to take on the BJP, drove to the residence of Mayawati. What transpired between the two seasoned leaders is still not known and certainly a lot was being read from the smiling faces of the BSP supremo Mayawati Details of what transpired between the two top leaders was not known immediately. With opposition parties citing the example of Australia federal elections in which exit polls predictions went wrong, BJP general secretary Ram Madhav on Monday mocked his rivals saying they were daydreaming. He asserted that such a situation will not arise in India and said that BJP will win a bigger mandate than what exit polls are showing."The Opposition can keep on dreaming day and night till May 23. By 12 pm on that day, their dream will not come true. We will wait for the exact results. But, I am confident that we will get a bigger mandate than what exit polls are showing," Madhav told ANI.
Now all eyes are on May 23 when the final results will be out. Maybe it has some surprises in store as on earlier occasions too the exit polls have been proved wrong.
