New Delhi: On Sunday night a security guard posted at Jayalalithaa's Kodanad estate was killed by unidentified men. Another security guard was seriously injured and was later rushed to the hospital.
The estate spread over 900 acres with large tea gardens was oft visited by Jayalalithaa. She used to stay at the palatial bungalow there for rest and treatment over the last few years before she died. She also used to work from there, with top bureaucrats shifting base from Chennai to Kodanad briefly during those times.
The attack is beeing viewed as the possible attempt to robbery.
This comes in the wake of the raging power struggle in the state between the two factions of the ruling party - All India Anna Munnetra Dravida Kazhagam (AIADMK) - one led by Chief Minister E. Palanisamy and the other by former chief minister O. Panneerselvam.
