New Delhi, May 15: The Trinamool Congress on Wednesday addressed the media a day after violence in West Bengal. The party produced a video evidence alleging BJP of being behind the incident.
TMC MP Derek O'Brien said that the party has two more pictures which can expose what they have been saying that the Central forces are ''in cahoots with the BJP in Bengal''. He showed pictures of a man wearing paramilitary fatigues walking with BJP leaders and sitting with Dilip Ghosh.
The violent clash took place on the streets of Kolkata during a massive road show by BJP president Amit Shah
Amid clashes, an iconic statue of Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar, one of the greatest names of the Bengal Renaissance has been allegedly smashed into pieces by the BJP supporters in Kolkata on Tuesday.
TMC MP Derek O'Brien released videos to claim "BJP goons" damaged statue of Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar.
BJP chief Amit Shah today launched a scathing attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over violence during his roadshow in Kolkata.
Shah's "Save Republic" rally offered a spectacle Kolkata had never seen - complete with saffron balloons and artistes dressed as Lord Ram and Hanuman dancing to "Jai Shri Ram" chants, and 10,000 kg of marigold petals.
There has been the usual blame game on who instigated the violence and who indulged in it as Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool and the BJP accuse each other of smashing the statue
Mamata Banerjee claims that BJP is doing it, I want to tell her, we are fighting in every state in the nation, unlike you on 42 seats in West Bengal. Violence didn't take place in 6 phases of elections anywhere but Bengal which proves that TMC is responsible for it, said Amit Shah.
He said Trinamool Congress workers vandalised an iconic statue of 19th century reformer Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar and pinned it on the BJP to dirty the party's image.
The BJP has complained to the Election Commission and has asked the Election Commission to ban Mamata Banerjee from campaigning for the last phase of the national election. While, Mamata Banerjee and her party men have added Vidyasagar's image to their Twitter accounts.
