New Delhi, News24 Bureau, Oct 12: Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is in AIIMS and is undergoing treatment. Meetings are lined up for the Goa CM today, he is meeting the members of the BJP core committee.
Parrikar, is on a constant watch by senior doctors and is expected to return to the state during Diwali, Union minister Shripad Naik said Friday.Naik was part of a Goa BJP core committee that met Parrikar at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences earlier in the day. BJP's Goa unit president and Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Tendulkar was also present for the meeting."We took a review of the governance in Goa during the meeting. The chief minister is expected to return to Goa from AIIMS during Diwali," Naik told PTI over phone from Delhi after the meeting. Naik said the issue of allocation of additional portfolios to the cabinet ministers was also discussed during the meeting.Parrikar is meeting the alliance partners of his government on Friday at the AIIMS in Delhi where he is currently undergoing treatment.Parrikar, 62, is admitted at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi since September 15 for a pancreatic ailment.This would be the first formal meeting chaired by Parrikar since his admission to the AIIMS last month. Highly placed sources said Parrikar is likely to distribute additional portfolios to his Cabinet ministers during this week.BJP president Amit Shah had last month said Parrikar would continue as the chief minister and that there would be reshuffle of his Cabinet soon.Later, two ailing ministers Francis D'Souza and Pandurang Madkaikar were dropped from the Goa Cabinet and they were replaced with Milind Naik and Nilesh Cabral.Questions over the stability of the government have been raised by the Opposition Congress because of Parrikar's illness.
