Rizwan is also the son of Iqbal Kaskar who is Ibrahim's brother and has been arrested by anti extortion cell last night while he was trying to leave the county. Ahmed Raza who was deported from Dubai also has links with Rizwan.
Rizwan Kaskar was arrested on Wednesday night from the international airport when he was trying to escape the country, he said.
Two days ago, Mumbai Police's anti-extortion cell arrested Ahmed Raza Wadharia, a close aide of Ibrahim's gang member Fahim Machmach, in an extortion case, a senior official from the crime branch said.
"During his interrogation, Rizwan Kaskar's name cropped up. Based on the information, a trap was laid and he was detained at the Mumbai international airport on Wednesday night when he was trying to escape from the country," he said.
He was placed under arrest after detailed interrogation, the official added.
Just two days ago, the Anti-Extortion cell of Mumbai Police arrested Ahmed Raza Wadharia, a close aide of Ibrahim's gang member Fahim Machmach. This was regarding an extortion case.
Reportedly Police sources said that during his interrogation, Rizwan Kaskar's name cropped up. The arrest was made based on this information. The sleuths laid a trap and Rizwan was detained at the Mumbai international airport on Wednesday night when he was trying to escape from the country.
In a major boost to the investigation against underworld dons Chota Shakeel and Dawood Ibrahim, the Mumbai Police arrested Afroz Wadariya also known as Ahmed Raza, officials said.
Senior Mumbai Police officials told news agency IANS that Afroz Wadariya, who was a close aide of Chota Shakeel and used to handle the hawala transactions for them was arrested on Tuesday on the basis of a Look Out Circular (LOC) notice issued against him.
The official said a LOC against Afroz Wadariya was issued on June 26.
The official said he arrived from the United Arab Emirates' (UAE) Dubai on Tuesday and was detained at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai. The immigration department then informed the Mumbai Police about him and later handed him over to them.
The official revealed that Afroz Wadariya was travelling on his own passport which was put under the lens by the Mumbai Police's Anti Extortion Cell through the LOC.
