New Delhi: In what would seem to have given a major relief to the Congress-led UDF government, the Kerala High Court on Friday stayed a vigilance court order to register an FIR against Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in the solar scam case.
Considering the pleas of Chandy and Power Minister Aryadan Mohammed, the High Court observed that the Inquiry Commissioner and Special Judge (Vigilance), Thrissur, acted mechanically without knowing the nature and extent of its powers.
Furthermore, the Court also directed its administrative section to consider action against the Vigilance Court judge. "The Vigilance Court suffers jurisdiction errors," the High Court said.
This decision from High Court comes to CM Chandy as a great respite, more so as Saritha S Nair on Wednesday claimed that she had paid bribes of Rs 1.90 crore to him to set up mega power projects in the state.
