New Delhi, May 15: British carmaker MG Motor on Wednesday launched its Hector SUV in India. The car is set to hit the roads from June this year. The expected price of the SUV will be in the bracket of Rs 15-20 lakh.
The MG Hector SUV is reportedly more spacious than its rivals as it measures 4,655mm in length and has a wheelbase of 2,750mm.
The MG Hector was unveiled on Wednesday and it looks brilliant. Its cabin has a 10.4-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen called iSmart loaded with connectivity features as well as a AI-powered voice assist. It also features faux-leather upholstery cruise control and LED tail-lamps. The system has been developed in collaboration with several technological partners like Unlimit, Cisco and Microsoft among others.
Low-mounted twin LED projector headlamps, LED daytime running lamps, large black mesh grille, and a larger central airdam with silver surrounds can be spotted.
The MG Hector will have a rear windshield wiper, along with a pair of LED tail lamps, rear spoiler, shark-fin antenna, and a muscular rear bumper with silver skid plate.
The Hector will be in both the petrol and the diesel engines. And to ones surprise, there will also be a petrol hybrid offering. The petrol is a 1.5-litre turbocharged unit which is claimed to be 12 per cent more fuel efficient than the petrol-only trim. It is expected to provide an additional torque of 20Nm.
The SUV claims mileage figures as 13.96kmpl for the petrol and dual-clutch automatic transmission, 14.16kmpl for the petrol-manual and 17.41kmpl for the diesel version.
This engine is mated to a dual clutch transmission which has been tested extensively under extreme climatic conditions globally for more than 2.6 million kilometres.
The MG Hector has two airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP for safety with traction control. It also has rear parking sensors and disc brakes on all four wheels.
MG already has 120 dealerships across 50 cities in the country and it plans to scale it up to 250 outlets by the end of September this year.
