New Delhi, Feb 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Daman in Union territory of Daman to inaugurate various projects and flag off a night marathon.
PM is inaugurating projects worth Rs 1,000 crore in Daman city on February 24 and flag off the marathon in Surat the next day. "This public meeting in Daman is historic- not only in terms of the number of people who have joined us but also in terms of the development projects being launched from here," said PM Narendra Modi in Daman.
The PM will also launch a helicopter service between Daman and Diu, and an Air Odisha flight service connecting Ahmedabad with Diu.
"I urge the people of Daman to continue giving topmost importance to cleanliness. The opportunities in tourism increase when there is cleanliness," said PM Narendra Modi. Appreciating the cleanliness there PM Modi said, "It is wonderful how Daman has become a mini-India. People from all over the country live and work here. I congratulate the people and local administration for making Daman open defecation free. This is a big step."
Modi will inaugurate anganwadis and schools constructed under the corporate social responsibility (CSR), Yadav said.
During his visit to Daman, the prime minister is scheduled to distribute e-rickshaws to women and scooters to differently-abled beneficiaries, he said, adding that Modi is also scheduled to interact with bright students.
