New Delhi: If you still don't have an Aadhar card, better get one. The card has suddenly assumed extreme importance. Soon you will not be able to file your Income Tax Return or get a PAN card without Aadhar.
In a bid to bring transparency and curb corruption and black money, the Narendra Modi government on Tuesday moved a proposal to make Aadhaar mandatory for filing income tax returns and for applying for a Permanent Account Number (PAN) from July 1.
The Modi government has moved amendments in the Finance Bill that is currently being discussed in the Parliament. Those who do not get Aadhaar card on time, however, will be allowed to file returns by quoting Aadhaar enrollment number.Aadhaar will also be mandatory for Employee Provident Fund (EPF) accounts.
