Kabul: At least 20 people were killed and 29 others were injured in an explosion that struck the Afghan capital of Kabul on Monday.
According to reports, the blast occurred when a suicide bomber blew himself up after joining a queue to enter police office in Kabul’s Dehmazang area.
Ambulances and police vehicles rushed to blast site and injured people were taken to a nearby hospital.
Insurgent group Taliban claimed the responsibility for the attack that rocked one of the most crowded areas of the city.
The attack comes just days before delegates from Afghanistan, Pakistan, China and the US are set to convene in Islamabad on February 6 to initiate a fresh round of peace talks with the Islamist group to end insurgency in the region.
