World Earth Day 2023: History

The first World Earth Day was celebrated on April 22nd, 1970, during the UNESCO summit in San Francisco. Peace activist John Mc Connell advised paying respect to Mother Earth and the concept of peace. The first day of spring in the Northern Hemisphere, March 21, was originally proposed as the date for World Earth Day.
