As per religious beliefs, this day is dedicated to Maa Ekadashi. The story says that when the demon Mura tried to attack Lord Vishnu while he was resting, a divine goddess emerged from Vishnu’s energy and destroyed the demon. This goddess later came to be known as Maa Ekadashi. Utpanna Ekadashi is observed every year to remember her appearance.

Fasting on this holy day is believed to free devotees from sins, bring mental peace, and grant the special blessings of Lord Vishnu.
