Sama Rice Pulao: Very soon the holy festival of Navratri is about to begin. This festival of faith and belief is celebrated with great pomp all over India. It is known from the name of Navratri itself that it is of nine days. During this nine different forms of Maa Durga are worshipped. Devotees keep fast during Navratri to please Maa Durga. During this, there is a provision to eat food at the same time, that too Satvik food. Although the list of sattvic food is not very long. But still you can cook tasty and good satvik food in a different way.

Today we are going to observe Navratri fast for those devotees. Coming with the recipe of Pulav. This pulao is made from sama rice which you can eat during fasting. Let’s know the method and necessary ingredients of pulao made from sama rice.

Sama Rice Pulao: Ingredients

  • One cup – Sama rice
  • two boiled potatoes
  • 1/4 cup peanuts
  • Green chili finely chopped as per taste
  • One spoon – cumin
  • Two spoons – ghee
  • finely chopped coriander
  • Rock salt – as per taste
  • two cups water

Method

  • To make sama rice pulao, first of all clean them thoroughly, because they contain fine pebbles.
  • Now wash them well and keep them soaked for 15 minutes.
  • Till you chop the boiled potatoes finely, and also chop the green chilies.
  • After this, drain the rice water and keep a thin pan on the gas to heat it.
  • Now put two spoons of desi ghee in it, and when it is well heated, add cumin seeds.
  • Immediately after this add peanuts, and fry them well.
  • Now add chopped potatoes to it and fry them till they turn brown.
  • After this, add soaked Sama rice as well, and add green chilies as well.
  • Stir them well and fry them for 2 minutes.
  • After this, add water and salt to it and cook on high flame till it comes to a boil.
  • When the boil comes, reduce the gas, and let them cook like this.
  • Keep in mind that in between, do not stir them with a spoon, otherwise they will become like pudding.
  • Please tell that it takes about 25 minutes to make Sama’s rice casserole.
  • When it is cooked well, garnish it with green coriander.
  • Now your sama rice pulao is ready.
  • Serve them with curd or raita.
