Apply to Skin The most frequent method of applying perfume is directly on the skin—after all, it's low-lift, and this method helps your smell remain longer. You don't want to spray it too far away, though, because your skin won't catch enough droplets. The founder of clean fragrance brand Lake & Skye Courtney Somer tells a blogging portal, "If you want a stronger scent, the closer you apply it, the stronger it will be." If your fragrance has a softer scent and you want a larger impact, spritz it 3 to 4 inches closer to your skin. Otherwise, keep it a little further away. Many scent gurus, however, advise the exact opposite—just let it soak in! There's no need to massage the fragrance over a bigger surface area because the power of your product will ensure that the perfume accompanies you regardless of where you go. The Cloud Method Another alternative is to use the well-known cloud approach, which involves spraying your scent around your body or in front of you and walking through it (though do your best to avoid the face).

For the minimalists out there, you may use scented body oil or scented body lotion to check two boxes at once. Of course, you can put your favourite fragrance on top (more on that later), but you can also go with a subtle aroma.

Now comes the exciting part: fragrance layering. There are numerous ways to accomplish this, one of which is to use a scented body product, such as a scented oil coated with perfume.
