New Delhi: Each one of us like to associate our homes with paradise. It’s where one feels safe and of utmost comfort, especially when life gets overwhelming. Certain decorating choices help in fostering a sense of calmness within one’s home.
Oftentimes it gets monotonous for us to just let our houses be as they are. However, if you are looking to give some creative touch to your safe space, you have come to the right place.
1. Starting off with a Natural Palette
Muted, neutral tones bring comfort to the eyes. When decorating with white or light-toned neutrals like cream, off-white or taupe, use plenty of texture to create interest. Add varieties of shades of warmth, such as gold, pale tan, or faded yellow, to keep white from looking too sterile.
2. Light up with Candles
The soft beam of candles adds a sense of easiness to any space, so use them generously throughout your house. Keep an adequate supply of candles and several favourite candleholders, so you’ll have plenty on hand when you want them. Besides this, always look out for candles before going to bed or leaving your house.
3. Play with shades of lighting
Include a variety of lighting types (including natural, ambient, and task lighting) in every room. During the daytime, take advantage of natural light by reflecting the room shades as sunsets. Then, create a lighting scheme for the evening hours that’s just as appealing as nature’s rays with bulbs that cast a gentle, warm light.
4. Scatter the magic with air perfumes
A pleasant aroma is one of the fastest ways to relax and add a sense of well-being. “Eucalyptus, geranium, and chamomile are some of my favorites, and they bring a soothing, spa-like quality to any room,” says founder and creative director of Black Lacquer Design, Caitlin Murray.
Whether it is to purchase your perfect candle that matches perfectly with your bedroom palette or choose the kind of aroma that perfectly settles in your mood, it is always a good option to opt out of these imaginative options to add quirkiness to one’s refuge.
