Kitchen Hacks: One of the most crucial kitchen appliances is the freezer, where we store leftovers. However, did you know that there are several foods that you should never store in the freezer? Well, if not, then don't worry! Here are 5 essential food items that should not be stored in freezer.

1. Eggs

Many food items contract when they are frozen. Eggs, however, operate in a reverse manner. Anyone who has ever tried to freeze an egg will surely have concluded that if it drops below a certain temperature, the egg will rupture inside its shell. And that's why it's particularly unwise to freeze your eggs. If you have to do it for some reason, take the eggs out before they freeze.

2. Cheese

While cheese doesn't freeze all that poorly, its texture is likely to change. In the freezer, it loses its power to be easily cut into slices and becomes crumbly. That is not the desired outcome if all you want to do is slice a piece of cheese to place on your bread.  This holds for French cheeses like camembert and brie as well as Gouda-type cheeses. The lesson of the tale is not to freeze cheese.

3. Rice

You might already be aware that storing rice in the refrigerator doesn't necessarily improve its flavour, leading you to believe that a freezer is a superior option. Unfortunately, neither of these things is true. When rice is defrosted a second time after being frozen, it will simply become a bland, mushy mess. The rice is best consumed immediately after cooking it.

4. Pasta

Pasta doesn't get any better when frozen, just like rice doesn't. The reverse is true. You shouldn't boil a large batch of pasta at the beginning of the week and then freeze it for later use, even though this may sound like a smart idea.  The spaghetti will completely lose its customary starchy consistency once it has defrosted. The outcome? limp, soggy spaghetti. However, the spaghetti sauce can be frozen. Therefore, you can prepare the sauce in advance and boil the pasta separately every time.

5. Potatoes

Although potatoes require little maintenance, freezing them will almost certainly result in disappointment. When frozen, uncooked potatoes develop a gritty texture that renders them almost inedible to anyone who enjoys a decent, flavorful potato. Simply keep them in a dark cabinet.
