New Delhi: Kiara Advani looked like a dream on her wedding day in a pink embroidered Manish Malhotra lehenga. On February 7, 2023, she married Siddharth Malhotra. Everyone, including industry peers, went crazy when the first photographs of the bride surfaced on the internet.
Kiara’s ‘no-makeup makeup’ bridal look and simple approach captivated everyone. Kiara’s make-up artist, Lekha Gupta, decoded her wedding makeup look. She has been working with the actress for over 6-7 years.
In a recent interview with a media portal, Lekha said, “Honestly speaking, there were no specifics given. Kiara has always been a minimalistic person. In general too, as a makeup artist, I wanted to break this whole myth of misperception that we usually have for Indian brides, like the perception that we have to do a heavy face makeup, or put over the top jewelry or hair. I just wanted to break that myth saying that, you may be the bride but you can still look as pretty and as elegant, even if you don’t do heavy eyes, even if you don’t do heavy makeup because there is something called an inner glow.”
She further said, “And I feel that is something which I, as a makeup artist, wanted to bring out. It just made life easier for me because Kiara herself is a minimalist person. She loves minimal makeup. So, we said that let’s just break the myth of having a heavily done bride and instead, go for something which is more subtle and elegant, which anyway works for her face.”
Lekha also explained Kiara’s minimal makeup look. She said, “It is a bridal makeup but we have been working with Kiara for so long. So we know her face in and out. But usually to get the no makeup look is very time-consuming because that is also makeup. It is subtle which gives you the illusion that there is hardly any makeup. So, we took nearly hour and a half for her makeup, which we normally do.”
