Khatti Meethi Dal: Dal is made in every household, which is an Indian food which has many varieties. It can be eaten with roti or rice. Salted lentils are usually made. But have you ever taken the test of sweet and sour lentils?

Khatti Meethi Dal: Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Arhar Dal
  • 1/2 cup moong dal (unpeeled)
  • 1 onion
  • 2 tbsp tamarind pulp
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 pinch asafoetida
  • 2 green chilies
  • 7-8 curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • salt to taste

Recipe

  • To make Khatti-Meethi Dal, first of all clean and wash Arhar (Toor) Dal and washed Moong Dal thoroughly.
  • Now add pulses and water as required in the cooker, along with turmeric, salt as per taste, sugar and tamarind pulp.
  • After this, cook it till 3-4 whistles and then turn off the gas.
  • Till the time the pressure of the cooker is released, you can make further preparations.
  • Now put oil in a pan and heat it on medium flame.
  • Now put mustard seeds in this hot oil and crackle it.
  • After this, add finely chopped green chilies and asafoetida to it.
  • Now add onion to it and fry till it becomes golden.
  • After this, add red chili powder and garam masala to it.
  • Now you cook this spice well, when the spice starts leaving oil, then you put boiled lentils in it.
  • After this, add water to the dal according to the need.
  • Now cook this dal for 10 minutes and garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Now your sweet and sour dal is cooked and ready, serve it with roti or rice.
