The most common skin cancer is basal cell carcinoma. It is slow-growing and, with proper early detection, treatable. Basal cell carcinoma starts in basal cells of the skin. These are cells that are located in the lower part of your epidermis—the outer layer of your skin.
Basal Cell Carcinoma Symptoms:
• Skin nodules and pimples or papules
• Nodules are barely visible
• Grow in size very slowly
• Presence of pain or itching in the nodules
• More moles on the body
Basal Cell Carcinoma Risk Factors
This cancer is majorly caused by the UV rays from the sun; thus, precautionary measures should be observed when in the sun. Other predisposing factors to basal cell carcinoma include UV light therapy, family history, weakened immunity, and fair skin. In addition, the condition is more prevalent in men as compared to women.
