Whenever we think about the land of celebrations India strikes everyones’ mind. Every festival in India embodies the aspirations of the populace in terms of social, cultural, and religion. Every celebration adds a few days of joy and happiness to the people’s lives. Here, festivals are excuse to feasts.

Karva Chauth is observed by married women on October 13 in the northern parts of our country for the long life for husbands. Here are some nutritious food suggestions that you must incorporate in your sargi thali and in dinner thali.

The countdown to Karwa Chauth in 2022 has started. On October 13, which is less than two days away, married women who celebrating this festival will dress up in their traditional garb, apply attractive mehendi designs on their hands, and fast from sunrise to moonrise in order to pray for their husband’s long life. In a new culture of gender equality and most importantly in the honour of partners, many men observe this fast too alongside their wives in order to show their caring behaviour and love. While the festival preparations are on full swing, don’t forget to include some nutritious cuisine in your Sargi Thaali.

Sargi is the pre-dawn meal that you eat before starting the fast.  You can choose to give a nutritious start to your day by including healthy items in your Sargi Thali.

Coconut water

Coconut water is a perfect detox water for this day. You have to start your day with a detox water on empty stomach which helps in boosting digestion and it will help you go on with the day without any weakness. Not only will it keep you hydrated on a no water fast but shall also keep your electrolytes balance in check.

Soaked Nuts

Have some soaked nuts which may include 5-6 almonds, 1-2 walnuts, 3-4 raisins etc for better energy levels through the day.

Whole grain flours, veggies and curd

The sargi platter typically consists of 7, 9 or 11 types of bite-sized food items. It consists of one of your staple carb-rich breakfast item like parantha, cheela, or dosa. It is even more good if you add Curd in your sargi platter.

Homemade paneer or stuffed roti

The fibrous components of this platter should ensure that there’s no bloating or acidity throughout the day. You can give the paratha a miss by choosing stuffed roti with curd or seasonal veg. Homemade paneer is a healthy option as it is a good source of protein.
