Ingredients

  • 1 cup yellow moong dal

  • 1 cup of ghee

  • 1 cup of sugar

  • 1 cup of milk

  • 1/2 cup of water

  • 4-6 Cardamons

  • saffron

  • minced almonds

  • nuts.

Step By Step Guide

Moong Dal Preparation

Rinse and soak the moong dal for 2-3 hours and grind it in a mixer to make a paste.

Make liquid

Combine milk, water and sugar in a bowl and whisk it thoroughly until the sugar dissolves completely, then add a few saffron strands to it.

Prepare The Dal

Gently pour the moong dal paste in a pan, add ghee to it and cook on medium flame with continuous stirring.

Sear Until Golden

Roast the dal until it has become golden brown then add the milk-sugar mixture to it and stir continiously to cook without any lumps.

Check Halwa Consistency

Cook until the halwa has a good consistency then add cardamom powder and minced nuts to it.

Garnish And Serve

Serve hot moong dal halwa garnished with kesar on top. Enjoy!
