New Delhi: Apart from being a versatile actor, Ankur Bhatia is also a fitness enthusiast. He is particular about his diet and never misses a chance to stay healthy but being an actor is not that easy, especially when one needs to frequently transform himself/herself physically to suit a character.
It’s nothing different for Crackdown 2-star Ankur Bhatia. In an exclusive interview with news24online.com, the actor shared what it took to physically transform himself to fit into the character of ‘Mandev’ in Sarbjit. The actor revealed he used to eat almost 11 or 12 gulab jamuns every night to gain that weight on his face and neck.
“…I used to eat almost 11 or 12 Gulab Jamuns every night. To kind of gain that weight on my face and neck. Because I was playing a 53 or 55 year old Sardar. And I wanted to look and feel that way,” the actor said.
Ankur Bhatia, who loves to experiment with characters, also revealed that to fit in the character of Sardar, he also needs to feel like a Sardar. For that, he went to Gurudwara ‘for like almost a month’. He also got his Pagadi tied from there.

The actor said, ”I grew my beard for like almost two months. So I did all that and I had literally four scenes in the film…”
Ankur Bhatia’s work front
Ankur Bhatia made his acting debut in 2010 in Payal Sethi’s Grant St. Shaving Co which was produced by Mira Nair. After that, he appeared in many films including the remake of the 1973 Bollywood film Zanjeer, directed by Apoorva Lakhia in Hindi and Telugu, opposite global stars Priyanka Chopra and Ram Charan.
In 2016, he was seen as Baldev, husband of Dalbir Kaur, essayed by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Sarabjit, Helmed by Omung Kumar. After that in 2017, he played Shraddha Kapoor’s husband in Apoorva Lakhia’s film Haseena.
In 2020, he appeared in Ram Madhvani’s show Aarya (Indian TV series) alongside Sushmita Sen. Now, in 2023, he has projects like Crackdown season 2 and Bloody Daddy.
