Diwali 2024 Date: Oct 31 Or Nov 1, When Will Deepavali Be Celebrated?

Diwali or Deepavali is celebrated to mark Lord Ram's return to Ayodhya after he was sent to exile for 14 years.

Diwali 2024 Date: The auspicious festival of Diwali is just around the corner and it is celebrated to mark the return of Lord Ram to Ayodhya. Every year, Hindus pray to Lord Ram, decorate their homes and make rangolis, among other things. In 2024, there has been some confusion regarding when Diwali will be celebrated. Initially, it was announced that Diwali will fall on November 1st but October 31st is also the date in the picture. 

Diwali 2024 Date: 

According to the Times Of India, Laxmi Puja will fall on October 31, 2024. But the festival can also fall on November 1st in a few cities.

As per the website Drik Panchang, Amavasya Tithi will begin at 3:52 PM on October 31 and will end at 6:16 PM on November 1. 

Apart from Lord Ram, Hindu deities Lord Ganesha, Goddess Laxmi, and Lord Kuber are worshipped. According to Drik Panchang, the five-day festivities will begin on October 29. After Diwali 2024, Govardhan Puja and Bhaiya Dooj are celebrated.

Dhanteras, also known as Dhantrayodashi, is celebrated because Goddess Lakshmi came out of the ocean during the churning of the Milky Sea on this day. Lord Kuber, the god of wealth, is worshipped on this auspicious day. Devotees pray to Lord Kubera and also buy gold at the festival. 

Govardhan Puja falls next day after Diwali. According to Drik Panchang, Lord Krishna defeated God Indra on this day. Meanwhile, Bhaidooj is celebrated the next day after Govardhan Pooja. This day celebrates the bond between sisters and brothers and sisters pray for their brother’s well-being.
