Chole Recipe: Chole Bhature, Chole Paratha, Chole Naan, Chole Kulche, Chole Rice are favorite of almost everyone. Whenever we go out for lunch or dinner, we definitely order some of these. Chole is made in different ways in many places, but Punjabi Chole is probably the most popular. You can enjoy it with roti to rice with its thick and flavourful gravy.
There are some people who take care of their health very much, in such a situation they refrain from eating chickpeas. Because it takes a lot of oil to make chickpeas. If you also refrain from eating chickpeas for this reason, then we are going to tell you the recipe for making Punjabi style chole without oil. Let’s know in detail.

Chole Recipe: Ingredients
- 2 cups chickpeas
- 2-3 onions (finely chopped)
- 1/2 tsp ghee
- salt to taste
- 2-3 bay leaves
- 2 green cardamom
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 5-6 cloves
- 1 black cardamom
- 1 inch cinnamon
- 1 tbsp garlic
- 1 tsp ginger
- 500 ml water
- black tea brew
- ½ tsp baking soda
- 1 tbsp roasted gram flour
- 1 tbsp coriander powder
- 1 tbsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 3-4 slit green chilies
- 2 tbsp chole masala
- 1 tsp dried mango powder
- 1 tbsp pomegranate powder
- 1 tsp kasoori methi
Method
- To make Punjabi Style Chole, first soak the chickpeas in a bowl for 5-6 hours.
- After that put whole spices, salt, baking soda, water and tea decoction in the pressure cooker and cook for 4-5 whistles.
- Now keep the pan on medium flame and after pouring ghee in it, add onion and salt and fry till it becomes golden.
- After this add garlic, ginger and green chillies and cook for 1 minute.
- Now add roasted gram flour, coriander powder, red chilli powder, cumin powder and chole masala and stir.
- Now add cooked chickpeas to it and mix well. Add dried mango powder and pomegranate seeds powder and cook for some time.
- After this add the remaining water in the cooker to the chickpeas and cover and cook it for 10 minutes.
- When the chickpea gravy becomes thick, add kasoori methi to it and stir for 1-2 minutes.
- Your Punjabi Chole is ready, now garnish it with coriander and serve hot.
