New Delhi: The Atharvaveda is the source of the venerable science of architecture and construction known as Vaastu Shastra. It is a body of knowledge that includes architectural principles such as design, layout, dimension, ground preparation, space organisation, and spatial geometry. These principles are then used to construct buildings. One can see Vaastu principles in the structures and monuments from ancient times, which provides some insight into how seriously our forefathers took this science.

Vaastu Shastra is currently well-liked all across the world. The universal need for peace and harmony, which Vaastu Shastra use in home construction and design is meant to bring along with promises of good health, riches, and happiness in life, is the rationale behind this.

Importance of Vaastu Shastra

Though originally developed for temples, Vaastu principles were eventually applied by individuals when building their homes, and after realising their effectiveness, they started applying them to the construction of offices, hospitals, factories, schools, and colleges. Today, the construction of cars, gardens, farms, and, shockingly, business cards all make use of this special yet fundamental knowledge of directions and materials.

Basic principles

The Vaastu Shastra that is used today is not significantly different from the one that was used in antiquity. However, it has been altered, and its methodology has changed to meet the demands of the modern world. However, the fundamental principle of the contemporary Vaastu-compliant architectural building, which derives from the Vedic sutras, remains the same. The shape of buildings and directions are the two key elements of the revised Vaastu. A rectangular plot, square plot, bar-shaped plot, and wheel-shaped plot, among other shape configurations, are examples of shapes or configurations.

The compass directions are Eesanya-North East (water), Vayuvya-North West (air), Agneya-South East (fire), and Nyruthi-South West. It also comprises the following 12 principles, which are employed while planning a structure: aspect, prospect, privacy, furniture demand, roominess, grouping, circulation, sanitation, flexibility, elegance, economy, and other practical factors.

Benefits Of Vaastu Shastra

Vaastu Shastra makes a relationship between the physical environment and quality of life, it offers several advantages. Thousands of books have been written about the subject up to this point, and they are currently taught in modern architectural and construction institutes.

The construction industry has transformed as a result of this realisation since more and more people want to live in homes that adhere to Vaastu. As a result, contemporary architects and developers are incorporating this ancient concept into their designs.
