Sleeping is as important for our body as other physical activities. Compromising on sleep may lead to serious complications that may be hazardous to your health.

If you sleep for less than 5 hours at night or more than 9 hours at a stretch, then you are susceptible to getting diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and more. Read on.

Not getting enough sleep on a daily basis can lead to serious health implications to the extent of unnecessary weight gain, diabetes, cancer, mental health concerns, and way more serious health implications.

Diseases caused due to getting less sleep:

If you sleep very late at night, then you should make amends and try to change this habit from this day forward. Not getting enough sleep or sleeping for long hours can cause your body to acquire a series of diseases.

If you sleep for less than 5 hours a day then you are at a risk of getting diabetes, a variety of cancers, heart conditions, a possible stroke, heart failure, lung-related diseases, kidney, and liver, depression, forgetfulness, Parkinson’s disease, arthritis and mental health issues.

The deficiency of vitamin D and vitamin B12 generally causes issues related to sleep. So much so that even children and aged people can get sleeplessness due to having inadequate vitamin D in their diet and nutrition.

Every human being needs at least 6 to 7 hours of sleep to maintain a healthy lifestyle and body. If one sleeps less than 6 hours or more than 9 hours, then they are in line to get serious health concerns.

Human beings become unhealthy and vulnerable to facing a variety of problems due to sleep cycle issues.

Being susceptible to cancer due to paucity of sleep

If you are someone who does not get enough sleep, then you could be at risk of getting cancer of the colon, breast, prostate, ovary, and more. Getting any less than 6 hours of sleep can make you more susceptible to the said diseases and conditions.

Being at risk of getting diabetes due to sleep issues

The two main causes of diabetes are unhealthy food and not being able to get sufficient sleep. If you get enough sleep on a daily basis, then you will be saved from being thrown into the clasps of a blood sugar increase. Hence, to save yourself from the diabetic condition, you should sleep for at least 6 to 8 hours.

Getting unnecessary weight gain due to sleep cycle problems

If you are somebody who doesn’t get enough sleep, then you are at risk of an increased cholesterol level which could in turn cause you more stress. According to a study, if you sleep more than 8 to 9 hours a day, then you are at a 25% higher risk of being obese and hence, getting a series of diseases.
