In 2021, Raihan’s first solo exhibition of photographs titled ‘Dark Perception’ explored the freedom of imagination. His 2nd solo show is now exhibiting at Bikaner House, India Gate Circle, New Delhi from the 17th to the 23rd of December 2022 (12:00 noon till 6:00pm daily).
The exhibition is based on the concept of ANUMANA or Inference and explores the philosophy of Inference by linking it to the idea of choice.
ANUMANA: An Evocation of Choice
anu (after) + mana (knowledge)
Knowledge follows from the inference of previous knowledge.
Memory, Experience, Perception.
Three determinants of our inference of the world.
Each defines the deception of our choices.
What happens when this deception is exposed?
When memory is re-worked, experience is re-written, and perception is altered?
Who are we, if not the consequence of our choices?
ANUMANA: Not an Exhibition but an Experience
The artist, Raihan, uses immersive installations and evocative photographs to create the twin paths of choice and no-choice.
The path of Choice
The path of choice starts with the question: “Where’s your truth born?”
The answer? Memory…
The path is a mesmerising journey which provides the glimpses of Raihan’s first solo ‘Dark Perception.’ One thing that binds the path together is the ‘journey’ itself.
‘Khud andheron mei rahkar, thodi si roshni mei doosron ke andhere dekh lena…’
The path of No Choice
The path of no-choice is a heavenly journey which will leave you thinking: “Where does your truth die?”
The answer? Perception…
Everything between the birth and the death is nothing but experience.
What will hit you is the ultimate, or let’s just say, the only similarity between both the paths is a rare, difficult to be found state of mind – freedom.
The Artist – Raihan R Vadra
Photography has always been a passion for Raihan. It began as a childhood hobby and gradually developed into a medium through which he could observe and reflect the elements of his journey through life as it unfolded.
