Coronavirus Pandemic Live: India fights COVID-19 as cases rise

The number of coronavirus cases in the country rose to 606 on Wednesday.

New Delhi: Even as the Indian government attempts to control the coronavirus epidemic with a nationwide lockdown, positive cases of COVID-19 infection have increased over the last couple of days.

Here are the latest updates:

-With five more people testing positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours, the toll of infected people in Madhya Pradesh has risen to 20, health officials said on Thursday.

-A new positive case of COVID-19 has been reported in Delhi taking the tally to 36 patients, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Thursday.

-The number of COVID-19 patients in Gujarat rose to 43 with four more coronavirus cases reported in the state during the last 24 hours, a senior health official said on Thursday.

-A 66-year-old man, admitted at a private hospital, has been detected with the coronavirus infection, taking the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in West Bengal to ten, officials said on Thursday.

-The total number of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra has gone up to 124 as two more persons tested coronavirus positive on Thursday, health officials said.

-The number of coronavirus cases in the country rose to 606 on Wednesday.

-The country saw 10 deaths due to COVID-19 on Wednesday, a health ministry official said.

-According to officials, the ministry of home affairs is monitoring the lockdown through a control room.

-Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a 21-day lockdown across India starting Wednesday.

-The number of active cases is 553.

-The health ministry in its updated figures on Wednesday morning, stated that the second death reported in Delhi was COVID-19 negative, thus bringing down the death toll due to coronavirus to nine in India.
