Coronavirus Outbreak: Sitharaman makes BIG announcement in COVID-19 fight

She has made it clear during a press conference that the Prime Minister has already said that the government has announced a package of 1.70 lakh crore rupees for the fight against coronavirus.

New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has made a big announcement on behalf of the Central Government on Thursday, in view of the devastation of coronavirus in the country.

She has made it clear during a press conference that the Prime Minister has already said that the government has announced a package of 1.70 lakh crore rupees for the fight against coronavirus.

Along with this, the government has also announced an insurance cover of Rs 50 lakh for those who are battling the coronavirus epidemic.

The government has included all the people, including ASHA workers, doctors and nurses, who have taken the risk of fighting Corona, risking their lives, among the warriors fighting coronavirus. The government has now announced a Rs 50 lakh insurance cover to them.

Along with this, Nirmala Sitharaman also announced to provide food to 80 crore people under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana.

Such people will be given an additional 5 kg of rice and wheat. It will be given for three months. A kilo of pulses will also be given along with wheat, rice.

Announcement for farmers, MNREGA laborers, poor widows, poor disabled and poor pensioners, beneficiaries of Jan Dhan Yojana, Ujjwala, women from self-help groups,
organised sector workers and people working in construction.

Kisan Samman Nidhi will benefit 8 crore 70 lakh farmers. The installment of 2 thousand will be transferred in the first week of April.

The wages of MNREGA workers have been increased from Rs 182 to Rs 202.

Elderly, Divyang and widows will get an additional Rs. 1000 for three months. It will be given in two installments. 3 crore people will get the benefit.

An amount of Rs 500 per month will be given to women Jan Dhan account holders for the next three months. This will benefit 200 million women.

Under the Ujjwala scheme, 8 million women beneficiaries will be given free cylinders for three months.

Women of women self-help groups will be given a loan of up to 20 lakhs under the Deendayal scheme, which was 10 lakhs earlier.

In the company where less than 100 employees and 90 percent of the employees get less than 15 thousand rupees salary, the government will give 12 percent EPF
for the next three months.

Instructions have been issued to the State Governments to use funds of Rs. 31 thousand crores for laborers engaged in building construction and other construction
works.

State Governments have District Fund, which should be done for health checkup and treatment. So that the battle we are fighting against Corona can be successful.
