Yogas for high blood pressure
Bhastrika– This is a breathing exercise where an individual has to inhale and exhale forcefully. It increases lung capacity and helps reduce cough-related issues.
Kapalbhati– Baba Ramdev suggests doing Kapalbhati slowly, as doing it fast can increase blood pressure.
Bahya Pranayama-In this pranayama, the person has to exhale completely, hold the breath outside, and then inhale again. It helps in improving the digestive system.
Ujjayi- In this, a person has to constrict the throat and breathe in and out, producing a sound similar to ocean waves.
Anulom-Vilom Pranayama- Anulom Vilom is a breathing exercise where an individual inhales and exhales alternately through each nostril. First, the person closes one nostril and inhales through the other, then exhales through the opposite nostril. The process is then repeated by switching the nostrils.
Bhramari- In this exercise, a person closes the eyes and ears and produces a humming sound through the nose. It helps relieve stress.
Adgit- In this practice, a person takes a deep breath and chants “Om,” placing more focus on the “O” sound. It brings a sense of calm to the mind.
Pranav – This exercise involves chanting “Om.” It helps elevate a person to a spiritual state.
Baba Ramdev says that these Yogas should be done slowly. They help control blood pressure and can cure it permanently.
Press Pressure point in hand to reduce BP
If the blood pressure is high, a pressure point in the hand can help bring the BP level down by pressing it. Baba Ramdev says the top point of the finger next to the ring finger can be pressed to bring the level down. This can help reduce blood pressure.
Juice of bottle gourd is beneficial
The yoga guru also suggests that patients with high BP consume bottle gourd juice. Baba Ramdev says that this juice should not be bitter in taste. People can consume it with Indian basil (tulsi), mint (pudina), and lemon juice. He says bitter bottle gourd juice can create problems like vomiting or dysentery with blood.
Baba Ramdev suggests that people can consume 200–250 grams of bottle gourd juice in the morning and evening to keep their blood pressure maintained. People suffering from cold can consume bottle gourd juice in the form of soup.
