The complaints that surfaced in the recently conducted Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission examination on Sunday will be investigated by a Special Investigation Team (SIT). This investigation will be carried out under the supervision of a retired High Court judge.
Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan, while speaking to media personnel on Wednesday, said that for the state government, the transparency and integrity of the examination system, along with the interests of the candidates, are of utmost priority. In this regard, the complaints received in the examination held last Sunday will be probed by an SIT headed by an Additional SP–level officer. The jurisdiction of the SIT will cover the entire state.
The Chief Secretary said that to ensure the investigation is carried out in a fair and impartial manner, it will be overseen by a retired High Court judge. The retired judge and the SIT will visit all districts, and during this period, anyone can provide them with facts or information related to the examination.
He informed that the investigation will be completed within one month. Until then, no further action will be taken by the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission regarding the examination. He added that strict action will be taken against anyone found guilty in the SIT investigation. In addition, necessary steps will also be taken to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
The Chief Secretary further said that in Haridwar, which has been at the center of the controversy, strict action will be taken against any individual whose negligence comes to light. He emphasized that the interests of the students remain the government’s top priority, and it is equally important to maintain the trust of students and the general public in the examination system.
