The Punjab government has taken a historic step by launching the Chief Minister Health Scheme, under which every citizen will get cashless health insurance coverage of up to Rs 10 lakh. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, this scheme will prove to take Punjab in a new direction. Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh formally launched this ambitious initiative for the state’s 3 crore residents.
This scheme was started from Tarn Taran and Barnala districts. Inaugurating online from the State Health Agency office, Dr. Balbir Singh said that the registration process has been kept completely transparent and simple so that every citizen can easily benefit from it. On the very first day, 1,480 families registered and showed their trust in this scheme.
Dr. Balbir Singh called this day historic for Punjab and said that this initiative will set an example for the entire country. He said that Punjab has now become the first state that provides health insurance coverage of Rs 10 lakh to every citizen, regardless of their income. In the coming days, this scheme will be implemented across the state, so that every Punjabi family can feel safe and secure.
The biggest advantage of this scheme is that beneficiaries can get cashless treatment not only in all government hospitals but also in more than 500 listed private hospitals. The government will bear the entire cost of treatment, so people will not be forced to sell their property or take loans for major operations and treatments.
The registration process has also been kept completely easy. Any citizen can become part of this scheme based only on voter ID card and Aadhaar card. No income limit has been set in this, so that this scheme can reach every section of society.
More than 2,300 health packages have been included under the scheme, which include complex surgeries related to cancer, heart disease, kidney and liver diseases as well as general health services and accident-related treatments. This step by the Punjab government is a new guarantee of relief and security for every family. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Mann, Punjab is now showing a new direction to the entire country in the field of health services.
