Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Monday (November 3, 2025) said that his government will not spare the ‘Jarnails’ (generals or big fish). The Chief Minister vowed to smash the cartel responsible for feeding the state’s worsening drug crisis. He reiterated that the administration had adopted a firm stance against the perpetrators. Addressing the gathering who came in support of AAP candidate Harmeet Singh Sandhu, ahead of bye elections, Mann alleged that the drug menace has gripped Punjab because it was “patronised during the Akali regime”.
Punjab Government’s Firm Stance Against Drug Perpetrators
Earlier on November 2, he engaged in a war of words against the Badal family, linking former Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia to Punjab’s drug crisis. He launched a scathing attack on drug ‘Perpetrators’ without taking names directly. The CM accused a few high-profile figures of being offenders behind the genocide of youth through an illegal drug network. “These leaders not only used to patronise the drug trade across the state but also sold and supplied the drugs in their official government vehicles,” CM Mann said.
CM Bhagwant Mann’s Political Barb
The CM asserted that the traditional political parties were unable to accept that a common man’s son could govern the state effectively. He alleged that the citizens had lost trust in such parties for their anti-people and anti-Punjab stance. Meanwhile, he labelled the period from 2007 to 2017, when the leader of the SAD party ruled the state, as the “darkest period”, during which transport, cable, sand, and drug mafia gripped Punjab. The CM claimed his government has upheld the holistic development and prosperity of the public and expressed confidence in a landslide victory in the upcoming Tarn Taran bypoll.
