Patanjali Inaugurates Emergency and Critical Care Hospital, Marks a New Chapter in Integrative Medical Science

Baba Ramdev said, “Except for cancer surgeries, all other types of surgeries are currently available at the centre. In the future, we also plan to make cancer surgeries accessible. The hospital is equipped to perform complex surgeries such as those of the brain, heart, and spine.”

History was scripted in the field of medical science on Friday at Patanjali Yogpeeth after the Patanjali Emergency and Critical Care Hospital was informally inaugurated amid Yajna mantras in the presence of Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna.

On the occasion, Baba Ramdev said that it marks the beginning of a new chapter in the ritual of medical science. He added that Patanjali’s medical service is democratic and meant for everyone. The hospital in Haridwar, he said, is a smaller version, and a larger one will soon be established before the nation on the lines of Delhi AIIMS, Apollo, and Medanta. He emphasized that it would be a cooperative hospital instead of a corporate hospital. Ramdev further said their mission is to provide treatment to patients through the Integrative Medicine System.

Ramdev said it has become imperative to take the help of modern medical science where it becomes necessary. It would be a modern approach and would be used in emergency conditions.

Baba Ramdev said, “Except for cancer surgeries, all other types of surgeries are currently available at the centre. In the future, we also plan to make cancer surgeries accessible. The hospital is equipped to perform complex surgeries such as those of the brain, heart, and spine.”

Patients here will also have access to MRI, CT scan, X-ray, ultrasound, and pathological testing facilities. The hospital follows top global medical standards. There are provisions for hundreds of surgeries and critical care every day, Ramdev added.

He said that at Patanjali, surgeries will be performed only when absolutely necessary, ensuring patients are spared the burden of overcharging hospital packages.

‘Only 20 percent reliance on modern medical science is required for treatment’

Acharya Balkrishna said that only 20 percent of modern medical science is required for treatment. If we combine it with 80 percent of traditional medicine, then within four to five years, we will be able to streamline the global healthcare system.

He added that while we must accept modern medical science for critical care, we should also follow Yoga and Ayurveda as effective solutions for diseases considered incurable.

The Charaka and Sushruta Samhitas state that the oath taken by a physician is not for any particular system of medicine but for healing the patient. Today, our medical knowledge has been divided into different paths (pathies), but that was never the goal. The true objective was to make the patient disease-free.

‘We have, along with the hospital, a world-class research center’

During his address, Acharya Balkrishna said that in large hospitals, doctors are often given targets to meet. But here, from the very first day, it was made clear to doctors that there will be no such targets — there is only one goal: to restore the good health of patients.

A few people ask, “Why Patanjali for all this?” The reason is that, along with our hospital, we also have a world-class research center. It is Patanjali that has established Yoga and Ayurveda as evidence-based systems of medicine. Today, we possess vast clinical data of patients, scientific evidence, Biosafety Level-2 certification, and facilities for in vivo animal testing and in vitro laboratory research. Patanjali is also conducting research in nuclear medicine and personalized medicine-capabilities unmatched by any other hospital.

He said that a long-cherished dream is now taking shape, and in the coming days, respected Swamiji and Patanjali will stand as symbols of the Integrated Medicine System.
