A brief but intense altercation occurred outside The Earth Saviours Foundation (TESF) gate in Gurugram when philanthropist Jas Kalra was seen striking a man who was allegedly slapping and shoving his elderly mother while attempting to abandon her at the Foundation’s entrance.
According to bystanders, the incident unfolded suddenly as the man was seen yelling at the elderly woman before pushing her toward the gate. Witnesses said Jas, who happened to be nearby, rushed forward to intervene and struck the man while shouting, “How dare you hit her!” The confrontation drew attention as the man appeared shocked and pleaded for mercy before being separated by onlookers and TESF staff.
Those present described the moment as “emotionally charged” and said Jas appeared composed yet firm after stepping in to stop the assault. One witness remarked, “He reacted like anyone should. The man was beating his own mother, anyone with a heart would have done the same.”
The Earth Saviours Foundation, founded by the late humanitarian Ravi Kalra, is home to hundreds of abandoned and elderly men and women who are often left at its gates by their families. Under Jas Kalra’s stewardship, the Foundation continues to provide food, medical care, and dignity to those who have nowhere else to go.
While neither Jas Kalra nor the Foundation has issued an official comment, the incident has sparked widespread discussion locally with many praising the intervention as a spontaneous act of humanity. Some called it a “moment of moral truth”, a reminder of the urgent need for empathy and respect toward parents and elders.
