From Rs 2,000 straight to Rs 10,000 per acre compensation! Big relief in Punjab for 26% to 100% crop loss, up to Rs 20,000 compensation Relief aid to start from October 15

The Chief Minister announced a new amount of compensation for flood-affected farmers. He said that earlier, farmers with 26–33% crop loss were given ₹2,000 per acre; now it has been raised to ₹10,000 per acre. For 33–75% loss, instead of ₹6,800 it will now be ₹10,000, and for 75–100% loss,

Today, on the second and final day of the special Punjab Assembly session, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann made an unprecedented announcement for flood-affected farmers and families. The session itself began with the declaration that compensation cheques will be issued from October 15, so that every farmer can receive timely compensation for crop, livestock, and other losses.

The Chief Minister made it clear: “Diwali falls on October 20. Before that, to light lamps of happiness on the faces of people, we will issue cheques.” This is not only a guarantee of a date but also a clear example of the Punjab government’s political thinking, which gives priority to the well-being and prosperity of its people.

The Chief Minister also announced a new amount of compensation for flood-affected farmers. The Chief Minister also announced ₹7,200 per acre for removing sand and desilting in the fields, ₹47,500 per hectare for land that has been washed away, ₹1,20,000 for fully damaged houses, and ₹35,100 for partially damaged houses. For draining water from Ferozepur and Fazilka areas, ₹4.5 crore has already been released from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

During the special session, the Chief Minister also openly criticized the disappointing relief plans of the Central Government. He said that despite the worst floods in Punjab in past decades, the BJP-led Central Government has only released ₹1,600 crore, while Punjab had requested a comprehensive package of ₹20,000 crore. The Chief Minister made it clear that this negligence from the Centre is harming not only the government but also the flood-affected people. In spite of this, the Punjab Government is ensuring there will be no delay in delivering relief to its people.

While thanking the youth, NDRF, Indian Army, and social organizations, the Chief Minister said that lakhs of youths, without caring for their own lives, saved lakhs of people and distributed ration-filled trolleys. This clearly shows that social unity and people-centric thinking is always alive in Punjab.
During the session it was also decided that a copy of the compensation package will be sent immediately to the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Finance Ministry. The Chief Minister made it clear that by issuing cheques of compensation, people-centric announcements of the Punjab Government are helping in rebuilding people’s lives.

It is clear that the Punjab Government is standing with the people of Punjab, and despite the neglect of the Centre, lamps of happiness will be lit in every farmer’s and family’s house. From October 15, compensation cheques will start being issued and by Diwali every farmer’s house will be filled with joy. This is living proof of the Punjab Government’s people-centric policy and dedication.
