The pace at which UP has transformed its industrial environment over the past eight years is creating a new narrative on the economic map of North India. CM Yogi Adityanath has clearly stated that Uttar Pradesh aims to become one trillion dollar economy by 2029-30. This is why the state government is continuously making concrete efforts to encourage small industries.

The biggest challenge for the state government at the time of its formation in 2017 was the highly complex industrial processes and low investor confidence.

However, the government rapidly changed this situation by implementing a time-bound approval system, a single-window system, and creating an investment-friendly environment in the districts.

As a result of these efforts, Uttar Pradesh has today become a major hub for small industries, which are rapidly creating employment opportunities for the state’s youth.

In eight years, the CM Yogi government has provided a strong foundation to the MSME sector. The number of units has increased rapidly due to the efforts made since 2017.

The Uttar Pradesh Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Policy 2022 has provided a capital subsidy of 10 to 25 percent in backward areas. This policy provides additional benefits for SC/ST and women entrepreneurs. The Nivesh Mitra portal and the single-window system have significantly simplified the approval process.

The Nivesh Mitra and MSME One Connect portals have simplified the process of setting up industries. Currently, more than 19 lakh licenses have been issued. These platforms have also facilitated GED certification and PMEGP applications. Loan disbursement has also seen a significant increase. In the financial year 2025, approximately ₹2.48 lakh crore loans have been provided to MSMEs.

Women and youth are being given priority. Under the Chief Minister’s Youth Employment Scheme (Yuva Swarojgar Yojana), loan subsidies worth approximately ₹1200 crore have been provided to young entrepreneurs.

The Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana and ODOP (One District One Product) scheme are promoting traditional artisans. The state government has mandated a 25% procurement from MSMEs, with 3% quota for women-owned enterprises and 4% quota for SC/ST units.

Agriculture and technology-based small industries are expanding in the state. Innovation hubs in Lucknow and Kanpur are promoting drone surveillance and AI-based farming. The Viksit UP 2047 vision includes 33 sectoral policies targeting MSMEs.

These efforts are contributing approximately ₹1.2 lakh crore to the state’s economy and creating new employment opportunities at the rural level.

Thanks to the efforts of the CM Yogi Adityanath government, Uttar Pradesh is becoming a strong pillar of Viksit Bharat. Small industries are now becoming the engine of the state’s progress.
