Dr. Mohana Rao Patibandla was recognized with The ET Business Excellence Award for his "excellence in neurology, neurosurgery and endovascular neurosurgery". Now, Dr. Rao received The ET Health Conclave Award for being a "leader in minimally invasive neurosurgeon, spine surgeon and endovascular neurosurgeon".

Dr. Mohana Rao Patibandla has been a pioneer in the domain by revolutionizing neurosurgical care in India. These honours highlight the depth of his contributions. He has implemented advanced techniques such as the parafascicular approach to treat deep brain tumours. This method has demonstrated impressive success rates with minimal risks. At NSI YNFCON 2025, Dr. Patibandla presented his technique for tumour removal using the parafascicular approach. He successfully operated on 51 patients using BrainPath tools. Older procedures posed risks like memory loss or motor impairment. In contrasr, Dr. Rao’s method achieved a 92% tumour removal rate. Only 7.8% of cases experienced temporary issues and no instances of permanent damage is seen.

According to the study, tumour removal in patients with lateral brain masses reached 95%. 94% of them resumed normal life post-surgery. Traditional surgeries only achieved a 65 to 75% removal rate. This frequently led to permanent complications. Endoscopic techniques performed even less effectively. These techniques removed only 40 to 60% of tumours. But in contrary, Dr. Rao’s method required follow-up treatments like fluid drainage in just 12% of cases. This is very less as compared to 30% in older approaches. His use of advanced instruments and minimally invasive techniques significantly improved outcomes.

Earlier this year, Dr. Rao's hospital celebrated the occasion of its 6th anniversary. At the occasion, Dr. Rao’s hospital launched neuro and spine OPD centres across seven cities in Andhra Pradesh. The cities where OPD centres are opened include Eluru, Rajahmundry, Bhimavaram, Kakinada, Vijayawada, Ongole, and Nellore.

The ET Business Excellence & Innovation Award and the ET Health Conclave Award recognise the individual doing the best in business and healthcare in India. Dr. Mohana Rao Patibandla stands out as one of the rare neurosurgeons to receive recognition in both domains within the same calendar year.
