Punjab Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur on Wednesday said that the CM Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab Government is continuously working to safeguard the future of orphaned and dependent children by providing them with financial support and social assistance schemes. She informed that Rs 242.77 crore has already been disbursed to such children across the state who have lost either one or both of their parents, or whose families are experiencing hardships.
About The 410 Crore Scheme
The Punjab Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister further added that a budget provision of Rs 410 crore has been allocated under the scheme for the current financial year 2025-26. At present, 232,290 children are receiving ongoing financial assistance to support and finance their education.
The Mann government aims to improve the standard of living and future of the orphans and dependent children across the state. She added that the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government is committed to ensuring that no child is deprived of basic needs, care, and development opportunities.
Efforts Towards Integrated Development Programs For Children
Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said that the Mann government’s continued support reflects its sensitivity and humanity towards the most vulnerable sections of society. The department is steadfastly working on integrated development programs for dependent children, including skill development, counseling, and educational support. She emphasized that the Mann government’s objective is not limited to financial assistance, but rather to prepare every child to help them become a capable citizen.
