Yogi Govt’s reforms boost agricultural growth and bring prosperity to farmers

Farmers across the state are increasingly benefiting from the double-engine government’s commitment to ensuring fair prices through the Minimum Support Price (MSP) mechanism.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s farmer-centric policies have set new benchmarks for agricultural progress in Uttar Pradesh. With a clear focus on enhancing farmer income and ensuring sustainable growth, agriculture in the state has undergone a remarkable transformation since 2017. The government’s consistent efforts, combined with the hard work of farmers, have strengthened Uttar Pradesh’s position as one of India’s leading states in food grain production.

Farmers across the state are increasingly benefiting from the double-engine government’s commitment to ensuring fair prices through the Minimum Support Price (MSP) mechanism. The sale of major crops — including paddy, wheat, and cereals — at government procurement centres has grown substantially over the years, giving farmers greater financial stability and market access.

For the 2025–26 paddy procurement season, 5,73,633 farmers have already registered, reflecting their continued trust in the procurement system. The state has set up 4,227 procurement centres, and 9.02 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been procured so far from 1,51,077 farmers, ensuring timely payments and seamless processes.

The Yogi government’s sustained focus on improving MSP, increasing productivity, and enabling easy access to agricultural resources has delivered historic results. These steps have boosted both farmers’ income and the agricultural sector’s contribution to the state and national economy. Today, Uttar Pradesh stands as a leading producer of key crops such as wheat and rice.

The state’s agricultural productivity has seen a dramatic rise. While productivity of major crops grew by an average of 8.7% between 2001–02 and 2016–17, it increased by an impressive 42.8% between 2016–17 and 2024–25. This remarkable jump reflects continuous improvements in farming practices, technological adoption, and strong government support.

Uttar Pradesh has also distributed more certified seeds in the 2025–26 Kharif and Rabi seasons compared to previous administrations. The government is pushing for diversification and nutrition-oriented farming through initiatives like the Uttar Pradesh Millets Revival Program. Under this initiative, Shri Ann minikits and modern agricultural equipment are being distributed to farmers to further boost productivity and promote millet cultivation.

Through these efforts, the Yogi government is not only improving agricultural outcomes but also ensuring that prosperity reaches every farmer across the state—building a stronger, more self-reliant Uttar Pradesh.
