The Centre has approved the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster 2.0. Following this, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority has initiated the process of hiring a consultant for this project. The estimated cost of this project is Rs 484 crore. This project will be built on 206 acres of land near the Noida International Airport.
As quoted by Hindustan Times, Arun Vir Singh, Chief Executive Officer of YEIDA, mentioned, “The Centre’s approval is a major step toward making Uttar Pradesh an electronics manufacturing hub. This cluster will boost local employment and attract component makers and allied industries.”
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY)’s EMC 2.0 has granted Rs 144 crore to the cluster, while Yeida will provide the remainder of Rs 340 crore. It is foreseen that the project will be completed by January 31, 2028.
The unit is scheduled to open in 2026, and in the first phase, it is expected to create 1,000 jobs. The project will involve 66 other industrial plots, other than the land belonging to Havells. Ontario’s plots of land range in size from 1,000 sqms to 32,375 sqms, and they cover 106 acres. A large amount of space has been allotted for the flatted factory which will have 176 industrial units available for tenants. Such units are created for startups and smaller companies interested in managing their costs.
YEIDA officials stated that the project has been carefully designed. Approximately 39 acres have been allocated for infrastructure, which will include internal roads, green spaces, electrical wiring, water supply, drainage systems, a boundary wall, and public facilities such as a hostel block, a commercial complex, a convention center, and a skill development center.
