The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has approved a new affordable housing scheme for the economically weaker section (EWS) in its 85th board meeting, as well as a plan to develop an entertainment area. Facilities such as a golf course, gymkhana, and Delhi Haat will be developed in this area, which will be close to the upcoming Noida International Airport, said officials.
Under this scheme, a total of 30,000 residential plots of 30 square meters will be allotted to EWS families whose annual income will be less than Rs 3 lakh. This initiative aims to provide workers with the facility to live near their workplace.
In the first phase of the scheme, 4,268 plots will be released in Sectors 17, 18, and 20. The meeting, chaired by YEIDA Chairman Alok Kumar, also approved the setting up of a new police station, two fire stations, and various recreational facilities. Both the fire stations will be built in an area of 7,485 square metres in Sector 18 and 32.
These new projects will be developed in the areas indicated as ‘recreational green zones’ in the 2041 Master Plan. According to YEIDA, these developments will help establish the region as a major business and leisure hub, especially around the airport.
Vimal Nadar, National Director and Head of Research, Colliers India, stated that this initiative of YEIDA will give a long-term boost to residential real estate around the Noida International Airport, especially in the Yamuna Expressway and Noida-Greater Noida Expressway areas.
