While driving any vehicle, whether two-wheeler or four-wheeler, it is essential to follow road and traffic rules. If not, the traffic police can issue a challan (penalty). With traffic cameras installed at various locations and the presence of traffic police on roads, the risk of getting fined has increased. However, sometimes, people receive incorrect challans, which can lead to confusion and frustration.
For instance, a person might be fined for using a mobile phone while driving, even when they were not using it, or there is no proof to support the claim. In such cases, you can challenge and get the wrong challan canceled. Here’s how you can do it:
Step 1: Visit The Official Website
The first step is to visit the official e-challan portal at https://echallan.parivahan.gov.in/.
Step 2: File A Complaint
Once on the portal, you’ll see several options. Click on the ‘Complaint’ option, which will take you to the grievance submission page.
Step 3: Fill In Details
On the complaint page, you’ll need to provide your details, including your name, mobile number, and email ID. Additionally, you must enter the challan number (found on your challan receipt), your vehicle number, and select the state, city, and location where the challan was issued.
Step 4: Specify The Reason
After entering the required information, select the reason why you believe the challan is incorrect. You can also add any additional details that may support your claim. Finally, complete the CAPTCHA verification and click on ‘Submit.’ Once submitted, you’ll receive an e-ticket number. You can use this number to track the status of your complaint.
