Wrestlers Protest: Farmers issue ultimatum till May 20, big decision after that
New Delhi: The Khap Mahapanchayat Sunday has given an ultimatum to central government to take action against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh for sexual assault charges levelled by top Indian wrestlers.
The farmer leaders held a meeting over 4 hours and annouced that they will wait till May 20 for the Centre to make a move against the WFI chief. The Khap Panchayat will hold another meeting on May 21 to discuss future course if the Centre fails to take action in the matter.
On Sunday, farmers from Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Rajasthan reached Jantar Mantar in the national capital to lend their support to the protesting grapplers.
The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) declared that it would stage protests in favour of the wrestlers nationwide, including in Delhi. Following SKM’s declaration, security was beefed up at the protesting site.
