New Delhi: Ace Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia on Sunday informed that a press conference will be held at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar over the ongoing dispute with the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI).
At the conference, the wrestlers will share the details on the legal process of the dispute. “We have just one issue. The reason for the protest is that nothing has been done so far… We are here to save wrestling. We will sit at 4 pm and talk,” said Wrestler Bajrang Punia.
The Olympic medalist also mentioned that a complaint has been given at Connaught Place Police Station.

First Protest In January
The wrestlers had staged protest in January this year alleging sexual harrasment at the WFI chief and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Brij Bhushan Singh.
The protestors demaned resignation of the BJP MP saying that there are many female athletes and coaches who are sexually harrassed and ready to reveal themselves.
Wrestler Vinesh Phogat had said, “I am thinking that no common woman is safe here. I can confidently say tomorrow that no girl should be born in India.”
The protestors met Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur who assured them the justice and an inquiry was announced in the matter.
Wrestlers had demanded to dissolve the then committee alleging that everywhere women are facing harassment and on the sport’s front, wrestlers are being given no basic facilities to support their game.
Brij Bhushan Singh ‘Stepped Aside’
Following the controversy, Singh stepped aside from the day-to-day activities of the federation but not resigned. He even cancelled a conference hours later he was supposed to go on stage.
