Wrestlers’ FIRs: The Delhi Police has filed two FIRs and 10 complaints against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The complaints are based on the sexual harassments allegations by wrestlers. The key allegations in two FIRs are as follows:
At lest two cases of demanding sexual favours in lieu of professional assistance, over 15 incidents of sexual harassments that include 10 episodes inappropriate touching, molestation that includes running hands over breasts, touching the navel; several instances of intimidation including stalking — and a shared sense of fear and trauma.
The two Wrestlers’ FIRs:
The two FIRs were filed by the Delhi Police on April 28. The FIRs includes the allegations of 6 adult wrestlers and also names WFI secretary Vinod Tomar. Both the FIRs cite IPC Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354A (sexual harassment), 354D (stalking) and 34 (common intention) that carry a jail term of one to three years.
Minor’s fathers’ complaint
The second FIRs is filed on the complaint of minor’s father, who shared his daughter’s ordeal of years of sexual harassment. The father alleged that his daughter was “completely disturbed and cannot be at peace anymore …sexual harassment by the accused (Singh) continues to haunt her”.
The minor’s father said, ” the accused Brij Bhushan held her tightly, pretending to get picture clicked, the accused squzeed her towards him, moved his hand around her shoulders and then deliberately brushed his hand against on her breast.
The FIR concerning the six adult wrestlers alleges a series of Singh’s inappropriate advances.
